University of Utah Cycling Team Apparel

Custom-designed team apparel for a fast team of club riders.

The University of Utah Cycling Team/Club is a club first and a race team second. The club is there to allow anyone who enjoys bikes to have a group of individuals to ride with, while the team allows those who are more competitive to represent their school. However, the team is considered a collegiate club, so most riders have to pay out of pocket to race. I spent two years of my collegiate cycling career as President of the Utah Cycling Team/Club. During that time (2017-2019) and raced for the team from 2016-2021.

The cycling team provided me with a platform and a reason to explore team design in the form of team gear, team website, and team management. Of those, I found a passion for jersey and kit design as shown below.

The fall is mountain bike season for collegiate racing. This 2022 kit was inspired by the Wasatch mountain range where the University of Utah is located. The team was looking for a jersey that would stand out with minimal logos. The team went on to finish 3rd at Collegiate MTB Nationals in the club category and continue the streak of top 5 overall for the 6th straight year. Sco’ Utes!

While these kits were first used for the mountain bike season, they will be used in the spring for road collegiate racing.

With new rules on logos and placement, the 2020 team kit was very minimalistic. With Covid-19 interupting the road racing season, this kit was used for both 2020 and 2021.

Hundreds of miles of single track right out of the dorms, the best snow on earth, and the fastest team in the IMCCC. This kit was used from 2018-2019 and encompasses everything available within a handful of minutes from campus.

The first of four designs for the team. Inspired by the University of Utah football team’s 2017 throwback jerseys, the U of U cycling team’s 2017 jersey pays homage to the school as well as the team. 2017 was the 20th anniversary of the university’s cycling team. The team managed to make it to 4th overall at Collegiate MTB Nationals in Missoula, MT.
